US President Donald Trump’s net approval rating has fallen to minus 17, marking the lowest point of his second term and the weakest standing recorded for any US president at a similar stage in office, according to an analysis presented in an X video by AF Post.

Explaining the data trend, the anchor said, “This is the lowest of his term, the lowest of his second term. We’re talking about minus 17 points, 17 points underwater."

The anchor noted that while Trump remained in negative territory for most of his first term after winning the 2016 election, his second presidency initially began with positive approval ratings before declining sharply.

“Unlike in Donald Trump’s first term, in which he was negative basically throughout his entire term, Trump actually started off in positive territory here in his second term, but now he’s at the lowest point of his second term," the anchor said.

Highlighting historical comparisons, the anchor added, “I went back, and I looked at all of the presidents at this point in a presidency, all of them, all of them at this point in a presidency, and guess what? Donald Trump is the lowest ever, the lowest ever at this point in a presidency, lower than Joe Biden, lower than Jimmy Carter, lower than Ronald Reagan."

“He’s lower than all of them, all of them at this point in a presidency," he said.

The anchor further remarked metaphorically on the scale of decline, stating, “You can make any sort of swimming comparison you want. Either way, he is very much [underwater]."

Trump, who returned to the White House after a four-year gap, is currently serving his second term as president.

FOX NEWS POLL SHOWS RISING DISAPPROVAL

On March 26, a Fox News poll showed Trump’s approval rating at 41 per cent, with 59 per cent of registered voters disapproving of his job performance, the highest disapproval recorded across both of his terms.

Support among Republicans also declined, falling to 84 per cent, compared with 92 per cent in March last year.

Among Democrats, 95 per cent disapproved, marking the fourth instance this term in which Democratic disapproval reached a record level.

Among independent voters, 25 per cent approved of Trump’s performance, while 75 per cent disapproved, indicating weak support outside the Republican base.

POLLS INDICATE DECLINING SUPPORT FOR IRAN POLICY: THE HILL

According to a University of Massachusetts Amherst poll cited in a report by The Hill, Trump’s approval rating stood at 33 per cent, while 62 per cent of respondents disapproved of his job performance.

Among those expressing disapproval, 53 per cent said they strongly disapproved.

The survey also reflected limited support for Trump’s handling of the conflict involving Iran.

Only 29 per cent of respondents approved of the president’s handling of strikes against Iran, while 63 per cent disapproved, The Hill reported.

The Amherst poll also found that 33 per cent of respondents identified with the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement, including 77 per cent of Republicans and 4 per cent of Democrats.

Trump’s approval rating in the Amherst survey has declined from 44 per cent in April last year to 38 per cent in July, before dropping to 33 per cent in the latest poll.

Separate surveys released recently by Quinnipiac University and AP-NORC also recorded Trump’s approval rating at 38 per cent, while the Fox News poll placed it at 41 per cent.
