Trump said Israel’s initial strike on South Pars was carried out “out of anger” and maintained that neither the United States nor Qatar had any role in the operation.

Donald Trump on Thursday warned that the United States would “blow up" Iran’s South Pars gas field if attacks on Qatar’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities continue, saying he would not hesitate to act if Tehran targets Qatari energy infrastructure again.
Trump issued the threat after Iranian missiles struck multiple LNG facilities in Qatar, an attack Tehran described as retaliation for Israel’s strike on the offshore South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf, which Iran shares with Qatar.
South Pars is the world’s largest natural gas field and a critical pillar of Iran’s energy sector.
“NO MORE ATTACKS WILL BE MADE BY ISRAEL pertaining to this extremely important and valuable South Pars Field unless Iran unwisely decides to attack a very innocent, in this case, Qatar – In which instance the United States of America, with or without the help or consent of Israel, will massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field at an amount of strength and power that Iran has never seen or witnessed before," said Trump in a Truth Social post.
“I do not want to authorize this level of violence and destruction because of the long term implications that it will have on the future of Iran, but if Qatar’s LNG is again attacked, I will not hesitate to do so," he added.
Qatar said Iranian missile strikes caused extensive damage to several LNG sites, triggering large fires. The country’s state-owned energy company, QatarEnergy, said emergency crews were working to contain the blazes and that no casualties had been reported.
Qatar is among the world’s largest exporters of liquefied natural gas and a key supplier to global energy markets.
Production had already been halted earlier in the conflict, and officials warned that the latest damage could further delay the resumption of supplies even after hostilities subside.
The attacks on Qatar came after Israel struck the Iranian section of the South Pars gas field. Tehran condemned the strike, with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian warning of “uncontrollable consequences" that could extend beyond the region.
Trump said Israel’s initial strike on South Pars was carried out “out of anger" and maintained that neither the United States nor Qatar had any role in the operation.
He added that Israel had assured him it would refrain from further attacks on the gas field, as long as Iran did not target Qatari energy assets again.
