Turkish Airlines Plane Tyre Catches Fire While Landing In Kathmandu, All Passengers Safe

Panic spread after a tyre of a Turkish Airlines aircraft caught fire while the plane was landing at Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal’s Kathmandu. The incident took place on Monday morning and the officials confirmed that the fire was quickly brought under control and all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated.

According to police officials, the incident involved Turkish Airlines flight TK 726, which was arriving in Kathmandu from Istanbul. Emergency teams responded immediately after the tyre caught fire during landing operations.

“The Turkish Airlines TK 726 was en route to Kathmandu from Istanbul and the tyre had caught fire while landing. Using the fire engine, it has been contained. All the passengers are safely evacuated," SP Rajkumar Silawal from the Airport security told ANI over the phone.

Authorities said there were 278 passengers and 11 crew members onboard the aircraft at the time of the incident. Officials also confirmed that several United Nations representatives were among the passengers travelling on the flight.

Airport operations were briefly monitored as emergency personnel secured the aircraft and ensured passenger safety. No injuries have been reported so far.

The exact cause of the tyre fire is yet to be determined, and further investigation is expected to be carried out by aviation authorities.

According to ANI, airport security and emergency response teams acted swiftly to prevent the situation from escalating.
