United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Wednesday spoke with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar amid rising tensions in West Asia, as regional security concerns mount following missile attacks.
According to a statement shared by the UAE Foreign Ministry, Sheikh Abdullah held phone conversations with several foreign ministers and senior officials to review the evolving regional situation, particularly in the backdrop of what Abu Dhabi described as Iran’s continued and unprovoked missile attacks targeting the UAE and other countries in the region.
Besides Jaishankar, the UAE minister also spoke with Morocco’s Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Sudan, Pekka Haavisto.

The discussions focused on the impact of the latest developments on regional peace and stability, as well as their potential fallout for the global economy and energy security.
The leaders strongly condemned the missile attacks, calling them a violation of international law and the UN Charter, and a direct threat to the sovereignty of states and regional stability.
They underlined the right of affected countries to take necessary steps to protect their territorial integrity and ensure the safety of citizens, residents and visitors, in line with international law.
Sheikh Abdullah expressed appreciation for the solidarity extended to the UAE, adding that all residents and visitors in the country remain safe.
Earlier, on March 15, S Jaishankar held a call with the UAE’s foreign minister, during which the two leaders “exchanged views on various aspects of the regional situation."
The diplomatic outreach comes amid heightened tensions following reported strikes on Iran’s South Pars gas field, the world’s largest natural gas reserve.
Iran has warned of retaliatory action against energy infrastructure across the Gulf, including facilities in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Iranian Revolutionary Guard commanders have threatened counterstrikes in response to the attacks, which were widely reported in Israeli media to have been carried out by Israel with the consent of the United States.
The escalation has rattled energy markets, with oil prices climbing towards $110 a barrel amid fears of supply disruptions, compounded by ongoing tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil shipments.
