India on Tuesday strongly condemned the attack on Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates that left three Indian nationals injured, with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) calling for an immediate halt to hostilities and urging restraint in the region.

In an official statement, the MEA highlighted the need to protect civilian infrastructure and ensure stability across West Asia.

“The attack on Fujairah that resulted in injury to three Indian nationals is unacceptable," the MEA said, reacting to the drone strike at the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone (FOIZ).

It added, “We call for immediate cessation of these hostilities and the targeting of civilian infrastructure and innocent civilians."

Reiterating its long-standing position, India emphasised diplomacy as the only viable path forward amid rising tensions.

“India continues to stand for dialogue and diplomacy to deal with the situation, so that peace and stability may be restored across West Asia," the MEA statement mentioned.

India also raised concerns over maritime security, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global energy corridor.

The MEA stressed the importance of maintaining open sea lanes in accordance with international law.

“We also call for free and unimpeded navigation and commerce through the Strait of Hormuz in keeping with international law," the statement said, signalling concerns over potential disruptions to global oil shipments.

Concluding its statement, India reiterated its readiness to support efforts aimed at de-escalation and conflict resolution.

“India stands ready to support all efforts for a peaceful resolution of issues," the MEA said.
