JD Vance asserted that the administration of US President Donald Trump is not looking for a limited agreement, but a broader deal.

US-Iran War: US Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday (local time) said that the biggest obstacle to the success of the peace talks is the deep mistrust between Washington and Tehran, which cannot be resolved overnight, even as both sides appear willing to continue negotiations.
While speaking at the Turning Point USA event, the Vice President asserted that the mistrust between the two nations remains the biggest challenge, but he added that Iranian negotiators wanted to make a deal and that he felt “very good about where we are."
“This was a meeting that never happened at that level between the US and the Iranian government in 49 years… So there is a lot of mistrust between Iran and the USA and it can’t be solved overnight, but I know that the people sitting across wanted to make a deal… We negotiated in good faith… I feel very good about where we are…" he said as quoted by news agency ANI.

Vance further went on to assert that the administration of US President Donald Trump is not looking for a limited agreement, but a broader deal.
“The President made a policy that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon and we are making sure that very thing happens… The President doesn’t want a small deal, he wants a grand bargain…" he said.
He added that although “a ton of progress" was made during the Pakistan talks, the deal was not finalised because Washington is aiming for a more comprehensive outcome – one that ensures Iran remains non-nuclear while also allowing its economy to integrate globally.

“This is why we made a ton of progress in Pakistan, but the deal was not done because the President wants a deal where Iran does not have a nuclear weapon and the people there can thrive and join the global economy… We are going to keep on negotiating and try to make it happen…" he added.
Vance’s remarks came hours after Trump signalled that talks between Washington and Tehran aimed at ending the ongoing West Asia war could resume in Pakistan “over the next two days," an indication that diplomatic efforts may be regaining traction after last week’s inconclusive mediation in Islamabad.
In an interview with the New York Post, the US President suggested that fresh talks with Iran could take place in Pakistan “over the next two days," after negotiations collapsed at the weekend, prompting the US to blockade Iranian ports.
“You should stay there, really, because something could be happening over the next two days, and we’re more inclined to go there," Trump told New York Post. “It’s more likely, you know why? Because the field marshal is doing a great job."
Vance led a delegation that met with Iranian officials in Pakistan over the weekend, but the talks ended without securing a deal to end the more than five-week US-Israel-Iran war.
The negotiations, which came amid ongoing tensions in the region, focused heavily on Iran’s nuclear programme. Vance said the United States has two key non-negotiable demands: that Iran give up its stockpile of enriched uranium and agree to strict verification measures to ensure it does not develop nuclear weapons in the future.
