US-Iran War News Today Latest Updates: The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has claimed that US forces intercepted and destroyed multiple Iranian one-way attack drones allegedly launched against commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical maritime trade routes.

According to CENTCOM, all drones were successfully neutralized in recent hours, and commercial shipping traffic through the strategic waterway continues without disruption. The command stated that the international trade corridor remains open for transit despite the reported drone threat.

The incident comes at a sensitive moment as Washington and Tehran appear to be edging closer to a potential agreement aimed at ending weeks of conflict between the two countries.

Hours before the reported drone interceptions, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that while certain aspects of the proposed agreement could still change, the tentative deal demonstrated that Iran had emerged stronger from the confrontation.

“Iran is the winner of the war with the U.S.,” Araghchi said during an appearance on Iranian state television.

Meanwhile, officials from both countries have indicated that negotiations are progressing. A senior U.S. administration official said Washington and Tehran have broadly agreed on a draft text and expect to finalize an initial agreement within the coming days.

Separately, Iranian media outlets reported explosions and gunfire near Sirik Port and Qeshm Island along the Strait of Hormuz. Local residents and officials were quoted as saying that Iranian forces fired warning shots at vessels attempting to navigate the waterway without authorization from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy.

Sources familiar with the ongoing discussions said the proposed memorandum of understanding includes provisions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz to normal maritime traffic and lifting the U.S. naval blockade on Iranian ports. The agreement is also expected to pave the way for subsequent negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program, which US President Donald Trump has cited as the primary reason behind the military confrontation.
