A video purportedly showing an Iranian missile evading more than 10 interceptor rockets before striking its target is doing the rounds on social media platforms amid intensified missile strikes in the Gulf region.

The video, recorded from what appears to be a terrace, captured multiple interceptor rockets streaking toward a single incoming projectile. Moments later, a flash was seen in the sky before the missile appeared to continue its trajectory and hit its target.

Trembled voices can be heard in the background saying, “Oh my God." The time and exact location of the video have not been independently verified, though some social media users claim it was filmed in Jerusalem.

However, News18 does not verify the authenticity of the video.

Late Sunday, Israeli authorities reported that several people were injured when an Iranian missile landed on a major road in Jerusalem.

Online speculation has linked the missile in the video to Iran’s Fattah or the upgraded Fattah-2 system, though there has been no official confirmation. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has previously claimed that Fattah missiles represent “the beginning of the end" for Israel’s air defence systems.

The viral video has emerged amid intensified hostilities following coordinated US-Israeli airstrikes on Iranian cities that killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has since launched retaliatory strikes targeting Israel and US bases in the region, including in Qatar and the UAE.

All About Fattah-2 Missile

Iran unveiled the Fattah-2 in November 2023 as an upgraded version of the earlier Fattah-1. According to Iranian officials, the missile is equipped with a hypersonic glide vehicle (HGV), allowing it to manoeuvre unpredictably during flight. Tehran claims it can reach speeds of up to Mach 15 and has a range of around 1,500 kilometres.

Unlike traditional ballistic missiles, which follow a predictable parabolic arc before re-entering the atmosphere, hypersonic glide vehicles can adjust their pitch and yaw mid-flight, potentially making them harder to intercept.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has described the Fattah system as a “game-changing" weapon.
