Elon Musk's tenure as the DOGE chief comes to an end this month-end. The White House has announced new leaders who will carry forward Musk's job in the department.

US President Donald Trump and his cabinet colleagues will fill in after Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s tenure as “Special Government Employee" at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) comes to an end this month, the White House said.
Musk is stepping away from his administrative duties to focus on his business, as Tesla has witnessed a fall in shares, after protests erupted against him and his company across the United States.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Thursday that Musk’s job will be carried forward by Trump, his Cabinet secretaries, and his DOGE members.
“The DOGE leaders are each and every member of the President’s cabinet — and the president himself — who is wholeheartedly committed to cutting waste, fraud and abuse from our government," she said.
This comes a day after Musk announced that his tenure as DOGE head comes to an end by month-end.
“As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending. The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government," Musk posted on X, the social media platform that he owns.
Trump To Hold Press Conference With Musk Tonight
Trump praised Musk as “terrific" and said that he would “always be with us".
“I am having a Press Conference tomorrow at 1:30 P.M. EST, with Elon Musk, at the Oval Office. This will be his last day, but not really, because he will, always, be with us, helping all the way. Elon is terrific! See you tomorrow at the White House," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
During the 2024 US election, Elon Musk pledged to cut $2 trillion in federal spending. After Trump’s return to office in January and the subsequent launch of DOGE, he lowered the goal to $1 trillion, following reports he spent over $250 million backing Trump. Musk has faced criticism for his growing influence in the Trump administration. DOGE claims to have saved $160 billion so far through cuts and asset sales.
