Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday said that he has been invited by US President Donald Trump to join Gaza’s “Board of Peace" as part of a US-backed and UN-supported plan to demilitarise and rebuild the territory after two years of war between Israel and Hamas.

However, Zelenskyy argued that Ukraine could not envisage working there alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“We did receive the invitation; our diplomats are working on it. However, it’s still very hard for me to imagine how we and Russia could be together in any kind of council," he said as quoted by news agency AFP.

His remarks came a day after the Kremlin said that Trump invited Putin to join the Gaza Peace Board. “President Putin also received an invitation to join this Board of Peace," spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists, adding that Russia was seeking to “clarify all the nuances" of the offer with Washington.

Trump’s ‘Board of Peace’ For Gaza

The Trump administration has invited political leaders, diplomats and business figures from about 60 countries, including India, Jordan, Canada, Hungary, Vietnam, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Egypt, Argentina, Albania and Paraguay, to join the new board, as part of a plan to demilitarise and rebuild the war-torn territory.

The Gaza ‘Board of Peace’ is a proposed international transitional mechanism aimed at managing Gaza in the aftermath of prolonged conflict. Its core objective is to support stabilisation, reconstruction, and civilian governance while preventing a power vacuum.

The White House said the initiative includes three linked bodies: a main Board of Peace chaired by Trump, a Palestinian technocratic committee to run day-to-day governance in Gaza, and a Gaza Executive Board with an advisory and support role.

Meanwhile, the US President is preparing to formally establish a newly proposed “Board of Peace" for Gaza, with a signing ceremony expected as early as Thursday during his appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Who All Are Invited?

Several world leaders have said they were invited to join the effort, including Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama, Argentina’s President Javier Milei, Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney, Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Jordan’s King Abdullah II, and Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, among others.

PM Modi also received an invitation from Trump on January 16, according to a letter shared by US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor. “It is my Great Honor to invite you, as Prime Minister of the Republic of India, to join me in a critically Historic and Magnificent effort to solidify Peace in the Middle East and, at the same time, to embark on a bold new approach to resolving Global Conflict!" Trump said in the letter.
