As high-stakes negotiations to end the wider West Asia conflict continued in Doha, US President Donald Trump shared a significant update on one of the most contentious issues in the talks — Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the enriched uranium — which he described as “Nuclear Dust!" — would either be immediately handed over to the United States to be transported and destroyed, or dismantled under international supervision in coordination with Iran.
He added that the process would take place under the observation of the Atomic Energy Commission “or its equivalent", suggesting that international oversight could become part of any potential agreement between Washington and Tehran.
Trump’s remarks come amid intense diplomatic efforts involving Qatari mediators, Iranian officials and US negotiators aimed at securing a ceasefire framework, restoring maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz and reviving broader discussions around Iran’s nuclear programme.
Iran’s enriched uranium reserves have remained one of the biggest sticking points in negotiations, with Washington pushing for tighter controls and dismantling measures, while Tehran has insisted on sanctions relief and guarantees over its civilian nuclear activities.
