A F-15 fighter jet of the US Army crashed at the Nellis US Air Force Base in Clark County, Nevada on Wednesday. According to the reports, the fighter jet pilot has been found safe with minor injuries.

Releasing a statement, the base said that the pilot ejected safely from the jet as it crashed. However, the US Army has not been able to locate the pilot and have launched a serch operation.

“An F-35 from Nellis AFB crashed north of Las Vegas today. The incident occurred approximately 25 miles northeast of Indian Springs, Nevada," the statement read, adding, “Emergency responders are on-scene and there is no impact to populated areas. The pilot is safe and being treated for minor injuries."

What Happened At The Nellis Air Force Base?

At around 5pm ET, an emergency response was sparked at the Air Force base after a possible crash had taken place; however, the details of the incident were not clear initially.

Later, Nellis Air Force Base announced on social media that an F-35 fighter jet had crashed, with emergency crews and US Air Force personnel searching for the pilot. Earlier, KSNV News 3 reported that an F-15 aircraft had experienced maneuvering issues on Tuesday, though the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

In a subsequent update at 5:42 pm ET, Nellis Air Force Base confirmed that the pilot had been located and was safe, having sustained only minor injuries.

According to KSNV News 3, the aircraft was initially reported missing before it was later found crashed near the Indiana Springs area.

Nellis Air Force Base is located about 8 miles northeast of downtown Las Vegas, Nevada.
