Once the deadline passed, Donald Trump warned, Iran would be left with "no bridges" and "no power plants."

An adviser to Iran’s Parliament Speaker issued a defiant counter-ultimatum to US President Donald Trump declaring that Tehran would not back down and warning that American allies would be “sent to the Stone Age" if Washington did not stand down- even as Trump’s own deadline for a deal ticked closer by the hour.
“It is Trump who has about 20 hours to either surrender to Iran or his allies will return to the Stone Age. We will not back down," said Mahdi Mohammadi, advisor to Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf- remarks that made clear Iran’s elected leadership had no intention of yielding before Trump’s cutoff.

The ultimatum landed as Trump’s own deadline loomed. Set for Tuesday, it demands what the US President has called an “acceptable" deal- one that includes the free flow of energy through the Strait of Hormuz, the critical global shipping lane Iran has blockaded since the conflict began.
Trump left little ambiguity about what comes next if Tehran refuses, asserting, “The entire country can be taken out in one night and that night might be tomorrow night."
Once the deadline passed, he warned, Iran would be left with “no bridges" and “no power plants." Yet even as both sides traded threats, Trump maintained a striking degree of optimism, suggesting he believed “reasonable" Iranian leaders were negotiating in “good faith".

Tehran has publicly rejected a temporary ceasefire and insisted on a permanent end to hostilities and the full lifting of sanctions. A 45-day ceasefire proposal, put forward by countries working to broker an end to the war, drew a measured response from Trump.
“They made a proposal, and it’s a significant proposal. It’s a significant step. It’s not good enough, but it’s a very significant step," he said.
