Amid ceasefire talks, Iranian embassies mock US stance with sarcastic posts, including a viral image of JD Vance “waiting for negotiations.”

Tensions between Iran and the United States have once again spilled onto social media, with sharp comments and sarcastic posts drawing global attention. Amid ongoing political developments, including statements by Donald Trump, several Iranian embassies have responded with a mix of humour and criticism. Their posts have added a different tone to the larger diplomatic conversation.

Embassy Post Mocks Delayed Talks

As discussions between the two countries remain uncertain, the Iranian embassy in Indonesia shared a post taking a light but pointed dig. The post on April 21 featured US Vice President JD Vance in a staged image.

The picture shows a man standing alone in a wide yellow flower field. He appears to be waiting, checking his watch, and looking around with a tired expression. In the next frames, he sits down on the ground and eventually lies flat, as if exhausted from waiting too long.

The caption read, “Waiting for negotiations like…" suggesting that talks are taking too long or may not happen at all.

This comes at a time when the White House said that after the president decided to extend the ceasefire and wait for Iran’s response, Vice President JD Vance would no longer travel to Pakistan for talks. Officials reportedly also did not share any further details about possible face-to-face meetings.

Another Post Lists Mixed Messages

On the same day, Iran’s embassy in Ghana shared a post highlighting what it described as confusing statements from the US side. The post read, “In 24 hours, the President of the United States has: — Thanked Iran for closure of Hormuz. — Threatened Iran. — Blamed China. — Praised China. — Declared the blockade a success. — Confirmed Iran restocked through it. — Promised a deal with Iran. — Promised bombs will fall on Iran. A group chat where every member is named Trump."

The message pointed to what they saw as shifting positions in a short span of time.

Earlier Remarks Add To The Tension

A few days before this, the Iranian embassy in South Africa also posted a sharp comment. Responding to a claim linked to a maritime audio clip, the embassy wrote, “You idiot, he meant your Idiot President, Trump. Just google ‘idiot’—you’ll understand who it is," directly calling out Trump.

This came at a time when there were discussions around the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil shipments. Iran had said the area was under its control and warned about possible restrictions if tensions continued.

Other Iranian missions also joined in. The embassy in Zimbabwe shared a post giving sarcastic “advice" to Trump, including lines like, “Turn off the phone, relax, no more posts and, block Bibi for one week; 4. Eat a light dinner and sleep well."

Another post added, “5-Book an appointment with a qualified psychiatrist."

In yet another remark, the embassy questioned US intentions, writing, “Hey Uncle Sam! Why don’t you make your mind? Do you want to have the Strait open or make it closed again?!"
