In the early morning darkness, before the first rays of the sun lit up the remote region of Namibia in Africa, a sudden scream shattered the quiet at a luxury tented camp. This was no movie scene but a real and tragic incident that shocked all the tourists present.

Bernd Kebbel, a 59-year-old businessman and adventure enthusiast, was staying at the Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp in the Sesfontein area of Namibia with his wife and friends. Known for its stunning natural beauty and thrilling experiences, the camp became the site of a horrific event.

According to CBS News, Kebbel stepped out of his tent around 4 am to use the toilet, unaware of the danger awaiting him. At that moment, a hungry lion appeared and attacked him. His screams alerted nearby guests and staff, who managed to scare the lion away, but unfortunately, Kebbel had already died from the attack.

Namibia’s Environment Ministry spokesperson, Ndeshipanda Hamunyela, said that the camp staff and nearby visitors raised an alarm immediately after the attack, forcing the lion to flee. Authorities have since begun investigating the lion’s behaviour and how such an attack could occur in a controlled environment.

While Kebbel’s death appears to be a tragic accident, it raises serious concerns about safety for those visiting Namibia’s wild areas.
