President Donald Trump ordered “bold action", stating the objective of the US forces is to defend the Americans by eliminating the threats from Iran, the US Central Command said.
Sharing a video with visuals of airstrikes directed towards Iran, the Central Command wrote in a post X, “As the President stated, our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime. The President ordered bold action. CENTCOM forces are delivering an overwhelming and unrelenting blow."

KHAMENEI KILLED IN STRIKES
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in the strikes launched by Israel and the United States on Saturday morning.
The Iran government has announced a 40-day state mourning after the killing of the Ayatollah. Earlier, President Trump announced the news of the leader’s death, describing him as “one of the most evil people in history".
Tehran retaliated to the strikes, targeting several Israeli cities with missiles, many of which were intercepted by the Iron Dome, Israel’s air defence system.
Iranian missiles also attacked the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which hosts several facilities linked to the US and Israel. Dubai airport, the world’s busiest for international traffic, and Jebel Ali seaport also came under attack, suffering significant damage.
Along with several global leaders, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has demanded an immediate cessation of hostilities in the Middle East, warning of “grave consequences" for global security.
WHAT SPARKED THE STRIKES?
The strikes against Iran came amid President Trump’s frequent threats, as negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear programmed yielded no results, pushing the Middle East into a renewed military confrontation.
