A high-level delegation from the German state of Thuringia, led by Minister-President Mario Voigt, is on a visit to India to strengthen bilateral ties and explore new avenues of cooperation in technology, innovation and skilled workforce development.

They are relying on India’s youth for partnerships and opportunities. The delegation is set to visit three states and meet leaders and stakeholders before finally returning to their homeland.

Voigt said Thuringia, one of Germany’s leading centres for optics, photonics, laser technology and advanced manufacturing, is keen to expand partnerships with Indian industries, universities and research institutions.

The delegation’s outreach is centred on a three-pronged strategy: enhancing collaboration in optics, photonics and laser technology; attracting skilled professionals in engineering, information technology and healthcare; and building long-term partnerships between governments, industries and academic institutions.

Voigt described India as a key partner and cited its large pool of young and highly skilled talent. He said Thuringia is actively looking to attract engineers, IT professionals and healthcare workers and can serve as a gateway for Indian professionals seeking opportunities across Europe.

The delegation also mentioned the importance of innovation-led growth and technology exchange, saying both sides stand to benefit from deeper cooperation in emerging sectors.

Gurdeep Singh Randhawa, Representative of the Indian Community in Thuringia, said the visit highlights the growing importance of India-Germany ties and the shared interest in creating stronger links between businesses, educational institutions and governments.

During the six-day visit, the delegation is scheduled to meet Union ministers, state ministers and chief ministers to explore opportunities for deeper cooperation across multiple sectors.

The visit comes amid growing economic and strategic engagement between India and Germany, with both sides seeking to expand collaboration in advanced technologies, manufacturing and talent mobility.
