President Donald Trump said that the United States and China had agreed not to allow Iran to pursue nuclear weapons as he pressed for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

After a meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, on the second day of his visit to Beijing, U.S. President Trump announced he had made some “fantastic trade deals" with the country.

“We made some fantastic trade deals, great for both countries… He is a great man I respect greatly… We have settled a lot of problems that a lot of people would not have been able to settle… We discussed Iran and want that crisis to end. We don’t want them to have a nuclear weapon and want the Straits open…" Trump said, according to news agency ANI via Reuters.

The U.S. President said he had invited Xi Jinping to Washington, adding he would be walking back “very impressed".

“President Xi will be visiting on September 24th… The visit will be reciprocal and he will be walking back very impressed, like I am with China…" he said.

Iran, Taiwan, And ‘All Is Well’

President Trump is set to wrap up his high-stakes visit to China. Although there are difference on the issue of Taiwan, he remains insistent that the ties between the two giants are getting “better than ever".

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, had congratulated him on “so many tremendous successes in such a short period of time".

“When President Xi very elegantly referred to the United States as perhaps being a declining nation, he was referring to the tremendous damage we suffered during the four years of Sleepy Joe Biden… But now, the United States is the hottest Nation anywhere in the world", he said.

Xi’s Warning On Taiwan

On Thursday — during the high-stakes summit between the two leaders at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing — Xi Jinping issued a clear warning on Taiwan.

He said the issue of Taipei could lead to “clashes and even conflicts" between Washington and Beijing if not handled properly.
