As Iran continues to struggle with the ongoing conflict, people of the war-battered country are expecting to hear from their new Supreme Leader HE Mojtaba Khamenei for the first time on their holy occasion of Nowruz, which will be observed on March 21, 2026.
Iranian government sources have reportedly announced that their new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei will deliver an address to the nation on Nowruz after the death of former Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
Notably, this has come at a time when rumours are circulating that Mojtaba Khamenei has been killed in an Israeli attack. The Iranian regime, however, dismissed reports, blaming the US and Israel for spreading misinformation.
Earlier, Mojtaba first addressed the Iranian people on March 12, 2026, shortly after assuming the position of Supreme Leader. However, he did not appear in public; rather, he issued a statement that was broadcast on state television.
Nowruz is also referred to as the Persian New Year that marks the arrival of spring and the beginning of the Iranian calendar year, observed on the spring equinox around March 20 or 21 every year. Celebrated for over 3,000 years, it remains one of Iran’s most significant cultural events.
In Iran, a key tradition is the Supreme Leader’s Nowruz message, setting the tone for the year. However, it is not yet clear whether this time Khamenei will deliver a written or video message.
