US President Trump likely won't pardon rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs, convicted of transporting individuals for prostitution, citing past behavior and hostile statements.

US President Donald Trump most likely won’t be pardoning rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, who has been convicted on two charges of transportation of individuals for prostitution across state lines.
In an interview with Newsmax on Friday, the US President termed the controversial hip hop mogul “half-innocent" but called pardoning the rapper “more difficult" due to his past behaviour.
“He was essentially, I guess, sort of half-innocent. He was celebrating a victory, but I guess it wasn’t as good of a victory," Trump said to Newsmax host Rob Finnerty.

He further confirmed that Diddy’s lawyer has reached out to him about a possible pardon.
Speaking about their ties, Trump said they used to get along “very well" and even called Diddy “a nice guy," but claimed that things worsened after he ran for the US Presidential election.
“Probably, you know, I was very friendly with him. I got along with him great, and he seemed like a nice guy. I didn’t know him well, but when I ran for office, he was very hostile," Trump said.
He added that this kind of thing does affect how decisions are made.
“It’s hard, you know? We’re human beings. And we don’t like to have things cloud our judgment, right? But when you knew someone and you were fine, and then you run for office, and he made some terrible statements. So I don’t know … It makes it more difficult to do," he added.
Trump’s remarks came after the July verdict, where Combs was convicted on two prostitution-related charges but acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering. Combs was convicted of flying people around the country, including male sex workers and girlfriends, for sexual encounters.
The 55-year-old Bad Boy Records founder has been behind bars since his arrest in September 2024. Since then, his legal team, led by attorneys Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos, has repeatedly sought release on a $50 million bond — attempts that have been consistently denied by the court.
